Nana Akufo-Addo promises to retrieve monies

Ghana’s new President-Elect Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has promised to collect monies belonging to Ghanaians which some people have embezzled and/or illegally acquired for themselves.

I heard him give that promise on a radio-playback of his speech at the NPP’s final Election 2016 campaign rally in Accra on December 4th. He was speaking Twi at that juncture.

In effect what he was saying was, “Vote for me. I will pursue and recover your monies that people have illegally appropriated for themselves”

By our words we shall be justified, and by our words we shall be condemned. (Matthew 12: 37)

There isn’t any evidence to suggest that he made that promise under duress. I will hold him to it.

Let me quote Kofi Annan here: “The people of Ghana are waiting and watching, let’s not disappoint them”
